Is Arma 3 worth it?

I've never played an Arma game but they look awesome. Is it worth it? And should I buy any expansions and which ones?

Yes and its on sale atm for $20!  IMO its worth the full price for the mods alone, if you do get it i recommend "King of the hill" mode to get the hang of things, and then venture into the awesome mods like Breaking Point, Epoch, and Battle Royale.

I would say so, its a bit expensive but alot of players are gonna be playing it so the games will be easier to get into than if you dont have it.  The new Tanoa map looks sweet too imo.

I would say that Apex is worth it. The new map that it adds is simply stunning!

Overall ArmA is phenomenal and I would definitely recommend it!

What is the Arma 3 about? looks like your generic military FPS like CoD or Battlefield to me. What sets it apart or makes it unique compared to these?

From what i can tell its a much more advanced version of an FPS with a lot of mods and game modes directed at a dedicated audience.

Hate to be "that guy", but what sort of campaign is there, if any? and if there is, is it just a continuation of arma 1 and 2?

Like Bobby_Joe_90 said its a very advanced shooter. It can probably be compared to a PvE version of Squad. Haven't played the campaign but they are not continuations of each other. Each one has a separate story. Honestly Arma is at its best with a plethora of mods. I would highly recommend picking up a copy when you ahve the day to yourself and giving it a spin. If you do pick it up and want someone to play with hit me up. I love playing arma and can set you up with an awesome mod pack.
