Q9650 vs Xeon Equivilent

So I have a really nice LGA775 board, Asus P5E3 Deluxe WiFi edition. And I'd really like to put the best 775 CPU in it I can find.

Basically it's down to the q9650 and a Xeon e5450 or something like that. I know there are extreme editions of the q series, but they're expensive as hell.

the q9650 is roughly 90$ canadian, but you can get a hard modded xeon for 50$. My worries are will the Xeon still overclock as well as the 9650?

And also, since it's a server cpu, won't the single core performance be a lot worse?

Anybody have any experience with any of these chips?

Ryzen 7 2700x, MSI Gaming X RX 480 8gb, Asus ROG X470 Gaming, 2x8gb Corsair Vengeance LPX 3000, 120gb Kingston SSD (Boot) + 1TB Seagate Barracuda.

X5460.

Um... this won't even work lmao...

X48 and X38 do not support 5-series 771 xeons, only P-series chipsets

The xeons are literally just the q series cpus but keyed to fit into a 771 socket instead (rotated 90 degrees) they will have the same performance running at the same clockspeeds as the q9640, but the "hard modded" xeon is probabbly not worth the price as the mod is just applying a $1 sticker to the chip.

Alright. But won't I also have to cut the plastic a bit on the socket itself? Referring to the notches that kind of set it in place.

What would be the best Xeon I could get for this board than? I keep hearing e5450 and a few others

just get que Q9650 mate...those are 10 years old CPU by now and the small difference between them if any will certainly go un-noticed.
