Multi-monitor config not working

Spork829

Sorry for any typos, on my phone right now. Trying to set up two monitors for someone at an office. One is plugged in via VGA, and I have adapted the other from DVI-D on the monitor to HDMI on the computer with a cable. It's using the IGPU on an i5 3470, which supports up to 3 displays. However I cannot get the computer to recognize the VGA input when they are both plugged in, just the HDMI. However the VGA was working just fine before so what could be going on?

you sure you got your settings done right?  under windows 'screen resolution' (control panel/appearance..../display/screen resolution)  you should see 'multiple displays', is it set to 'extend these displays'?

or 'only show desktop on...'

Enter bios. Advanced > System Agent Configuration > Graphics Config > CPU Graphics Multi-Monitor (set to enabled)

That's the issue, in the screen resolution settings windows is only recognizing one monitor, so I can't extend cause it doesn't know there are two

That page seems like it includes literally every model except the 3010. Is it not possible on the 3010? Ugh.

found the technical manual of the 9010, page 45 it says :  Video Multi-display: Disable (For system with discrete graphics)

so maybe you're right, maybe its not possible to do multiple monitor with this computer.

Well that's only the dumbest thing I've ever heard considering that IGPU can support up to 3. I hate OEMs.

I checked for new drivers for the graphics adapter through device manager and it said they are up to date, figured that's accurate.

perhaps this thread will help you.

That guy never got his question answered either as far as I can see. I found this which days I should use Dells CCTK program, but I can't figure out how to actually edit the BOIS with it.

No problem. I figured out how to use Dell's program to edit the BIOS and put in that setting, so I tried, and it gave me an error. So I'll give up for now and come back to it.
