Alright so I'm not new to PC building but I'm new to SLI.

MY ISSUE:

nVidia control panel will not recognize an SLI configuration between my two cards, yet it will recognize the cards individually. I can see both cards in the control panel, but there is no option to enable SLI, anywhere. I know where it is supposed to be, and it is not there.

IMPORTANT INFO:

  • I have 2 980Tis
  • The GPUs are the only things using PCIe slots in my rig. No soundcards, no M.2 drives, nothing.
  • I have a 2650v3 (40 PCIe Lanes)
  • My motherboard is an Asus X99 Deluxe V1 (16x Lanes per Slot)
  • I have tried using multiple bridges, none work. Double and single. 2-Way and 3-Way. (I have 2 cards, but a 3-Way bridge should still work, right?)

pls help I have no idea

00:00 me forgot to post my GPUs. I have 2 980Tis.

I know that the option to enable SLI is called maximize 3D performance, but all I see is change PhysX settings and a diagram of what ports are feeding which monitors when I enter that menu.

The SLI bridge is mounted firmly on both cards. No issues there.

Are u in slots one and 2 on ur mobo ?

have u got the latest drivers ?

U should use the Sli bridge that comes with your mobo

its posible ur mobo supports Sli over different pcie slots ie 1 and 3 or 1 and 4

and quick Google will tell you

It's only x16 when you have them in the correct slot configuration for your specific CPU.  Do it wrong and you can force a x16 PCIe slot into x4 mode rendering SLI impossible.

If your cards are in PCIe slots 1 and 2 as you answered they are, then they are in the wrong slots.  The Asus x99 Deluxe manual recommends installing the cards in PCIe 1 and PCIe 3 when running a 2-way SLI.

I've highlighted the correct slots to use for a 2-way SLI on a 40 PCIe lane CPU.  Same exact setup as mine.

Also, the 2-way/3-way SLI switch on the board just turns PCIe slot lights on and off to aid in your install (maybe no in your case :P).  Other than that, it doesn't control SLI in any way.

Make sure you pay attention to the SLI chart for use with 40 PCIe lane CPUs as the 28 PCIe lane CPU chart differs.

Good luck.  I look forward to seeing your 980 Ti results.
