I am now running a stress test to make sure that the system is fine... But, the weird thing is, that I could click the power button even though it was being pressed...

that doesn't mean much, it just means that the connector inside, not the plastic cover around the power button that we perceive as our power buttons, might be greasy or have a problem.

it should look something like this inside, and that is what could be faulty? just clean everything. I'm guessing the case is pretty old.

My PC went into sleep mode (or at least I think so). When I hit the power button nothing happened, then, I noticed that the fans weren't spinning and that only the PSU was running! I removed the power cord and plugged it back into the power supply and then removed the CPU and the 24-pin power connector and plugged them back in... My PC worked after that! In the meantime I had noticed that my power button was stuck (as if it was being pressed continuously)... What could have caused that?(Do you think I hadn't plugged in the ATX power connector correctly?) and do you think that this may have caused any damage to my rig?

Maybe something went wrong with the power button and it got stuck luckily you were there since it would of caused damage if it was doing that for a couple of hours if you cant make the power button be normal buy a new case since maybe when your not there that might happen and you could lose some component since every time the pc is shut down its goes thru a very stressful process

sounds to me like your power button just got gunk in the sleeves to be honest. it can't cause permanent damage. just clean the power button.

Well if the power button was being pushed continually, then that's what's going to happen.  It, more than likely, isn't going to cause you much damage at all.

Please spend as much time writing your question, as you want me to spend responding to it.  Take some time, and explain your issue, please!

Sometimes that happens, I remember several years ago I got a cheap case that would do the same thing, it was the actual button actuator that caused it, not the plastic cover that you pressed.

If it was damanged, more than likely it wouldn't have worked.

cool, just fix whatever problems are still around your power button and you should be golden. I can see why you were worried though, if my main rig was an i7 5820k and I had power issues I would ask for opinions as well.

Good luck to you.

Ok. I finally figured that out, turns out my PC has an issue with Sleep mode... It can't recover!!! You have to unplug the power cord in order for it to boot up again... Any ideas about what could be causing that?
