so ive been wondering why my 1080 never stays at the max boost clock even though it is no where near the temp target i have set for the card and max power i have seen it hit was 115% but i have it set for 124% any way i could make it run at the max boost clock consistantly? card stops at 80c and doesnt get hotter

The boost function is not ,when its under load it will go to the max clock; If the GPU is under a hard load and feels it needs to be done faster it will turbo its self to the right clock speed for that task not straight to the boost top end speed.

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

is there any way to make it boost to the max clock regardless?

For Maxwell there is a feature to have the GPU stay at max clock, that is silly. People actually call that a problem if it happens unintentionally. Haven't see Precision X for Pascal so don't know it the feature made it over, but look for a feature called KBOOST.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

Or "force constant voltage" in AB.

it appears to not work on pascal as it still downclocks under the max boost

Is your gpu usage pinned at 99%?

i5 2400 | ASUS RTX 4090 TUF OC | Seasonic 1200W Prime Gold | WD Green 120gb | WD Blue 1tb | some ram | a random case

And that's why people have their Bios moded, to get rid of GPU "Boost Headaches".

You want your card to do what you want? Gotta flash custom clocks to it. Else, it just does it's thing and OCs when you don't want, while not going as high when you do.
