Switching to Intel Platform

So i recently picked up a 6700K to upgrade from an FX 6300 and was wondering if there are any details that i need to know when switching CPUs and Motherboards. Im going to use the same W10 OS drive and I do not know if I can just plug all my drives into my new board without any issues. Thanks in advance!

 

I have a retail copy of Windows 10 Home

If you're switching motherboards you will likely have to reactivate windows. If you have windows 10 OEM, this can be difficult (its technically not allowed, but there are workarounds). As far as migrating data, I'm no expert on that front, but make sure to make a backup before you try anything in case something goes wrong.

Yeah just make sure you have the right ethernet drivers and chipset drivers

when my i3 died and I got a 8350 I just booted it up and it preconfigured to the new hardware and I picked up exactly where it was before the i3 died.

You will want to do a clean install of the OS.  When you go to install, you should just be able to use any of your previous product keys and it will "reactivate" it as such with your new hardware.  It's really not that different.
