I don't know if I'm having a blonde moment here, but I've just been looking at the 1070 online and the price seems a bit off...

The price of the non-founders edition is ~$380 from what I've read, yet I've just shopped online and it's come up as £400 - FOUR HUNDRED POUNDS!

Is this the final price or what, I don't understand the price difference. I was so excited when this card was announced, I thought it was gonna be around £330 or so, I know you can't directly convert the currency so I did anticipate it to be a little more than it literally converts to.

What do you guys think? Is this the final correct price? I'm annoyed a little bit, I can't bring myself to blow £400 on a GPU :(

Honestly i feel your pain, im thinking of getting my Dad (who lives in spain) to bring one over just to say £15-20 just for the principle. Its disgusting we are just getting Nvidicked. But don't worry to much as the princes will be "fingers crossed" falling soon. I can tell you that Overclockers have a Non-founders Edition for £365, which looks like poo poo... but its still a GTX 1070 and claims it has vapour chamber cooling (.... when even the founders 1070 doesnt- the Founders 1080 does however) https://www.overclockers.co.uk/kfa2-geforce-gtx-1070-reference-blower-8192mb-gddr5-pci-express-graphics-card-70nsh6dhk6vk-gx-090-kf.html

God that card looks awful, it looks like they've slapped my EVGA 660 cooler on it, nasty that is - good price though.

On Newegg UK, it's cheaper to buy it, import (inc. tax) and get it delivered....

I know its been said but F**K i hope AMD step up this gen, 480x looks decent but not this kinda level tbh.

I'm gonna be perfectly honest with you. I don't follow AMDs line of GPUs and can't really tell how good each one is. I understand the naming structure, just not the performance, and how it compares to the green team (i'm a noob)

i know, a week before they were announced by nvidia, i had ordered a system with a 970 from chillblast -that card was £280. so seeing the 1070 was coming out i cancelled and waited,  went back after they launched and asked for the same system with the 1070 and they wanted £270 more to upgrade from the 970- thats £520 + for the card ,  screw them.

so went with different company and paid the going rate of £399 ...still high but nowhere near the outlandish price chillblast wanted

Hmmm.... Here in Denmark the price is around 420 pounds for a non-reference.... I hope the new AMD RX480 will bring down the price, and I also think its because there is high demand on the cards, which allows them to sell their units at a higher price, since many stores is out of stock, here in DK atleast.

That's a fair point really, if there is a demand they can charge whatever they see fit, people are still gonna buy them. Lets home AMD card will be comparable to the Nvidia ones. When are the AMD cards set for release?

there is huge demand on the 1070's and 1080 right now, so they are keeping the prices high, i couldn't wait as i had myself geared up to have a new system before they were announced, so waited an extra month for them be released ...cant wait any longer ha

See I'm a massive tight arse so I'll do as much waiting as needed xD

lol pretty much. The 1070 has taken the 980's price point, and the 1080 has created a new price point exactly halfway between the 980 Ti and Titan X.

This is what happens when AMD blurt out "lol we're going after the laptop and low end market and nothing else" months in advance.

They've already said they won't be. At the very best we can expect 390X/R9 Nano level performance from the 480, and in the absence of a 490 if you want performance you need to cough up for Nvidia or go without.

Ohh brilliant. I'm so excited, gonna get a nice shiny 4790k, new mobo and be gone with my shitty FX 4170. I bought it 5 years ago, when I knew nothing about PCs and it was the cheapest bundle on eBay with 4 cores... what a mistake that was

No one company should have access to a single market, surely it can't end well

Right now both AMD and Nvidia do in their own way. Nvidia have the high end, and AMD have the low. Of course, Nvidia also have last generation to make up for the absence of a 1060 or below, so they have the advantage over AMD here.

I think Nvidia are making it clear how benevolent Intel have been with their own monopoly these last five years.
