Stop graphics card underclock

Is there a way for me to either

a) stop my amd r9 280x from underclocking while playing 2d games or

b) find a non-taxing graphics app that forces full core clock?

why would you want this? just wondering, are you getting bad FPS or something? if not i dont see a reason

question is, what are you trying to achieve?

 

if the card clocks down on a 2D game, its probably because the 2D game cant use more gpu performance even if the card clocked up.

Other than the card not achieveing the desired clocks, is there any other issue? temps, performance?

I'm running cemu, an emulator for wii u.

My graphics card driver will consistently change clock speeds from lowest to highest, which brings down the fps from 40-55 to around 7

huh strange, well now i know. not sure what to do but when my 750 TI did that it was a power delivery problem but im not sure

Temps and performance are fine.

I can run GTA V at very high 50 fps at 70 C

The thing is, when I run youtube alongside it, the fps will double or triple, and sometimes go into the high 50s. Whenever this happens, msi afterburner tells me my clock speed is at max instead of min

The software is actually pretty stable as of the last revision.

The game will noticeably improve when running youtube alongside or recording the screen.

I've compared graphs of fps and clock, and I've found a positive correlation between the two.

Yea, it's not loading the gpu right... in afterburner can you set kboost.? This should pin your GPU clocks.

 

Just remember to turn it off when not playing.

I'm not quite a noob, but I'm not so experienced as to know what kboost is.

it's a selectable option (in evga precisionX, which is just really a skinned nvidia app) which forces the GPU to run at it's max speed. Usually grouped with the voltage options

I've started the download and will report back the results

Hopefully the results are the fuzzy type and not the bricked graphics card type

Crap.. Might not be an option actually... it's there for nvidia but not sure about AMD.

Yea, Forgot MSI call the overclocking tool the same thing for Nvidia and AMD. Sorry. unaware of a fix.
