CPU for Gaming/Streaming PC

Hi community !

I want to be able to stream and play at the same time smoothly, my current build is :

Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo
Intel Core i5-6600K
Nvidia Geforce GTX 1070
Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x 8GB)(C16R)
Gigabyte GA-Z170MX-Gaming 5
EVGA SuperNOVA 650 GS 80+ GOLD
Samsung 850 Evo 250GB
Seagate Barracuda 1TB
Asus 24x DVD-RW Serial-ATA Internal OEM Optical Drive DRW-24B1ST (Black)
Carbide Series 500R Mid-Tower Case

 

Is my CPU strong enough ? Or should I go for a i7 7600k ? (I would like to be able to stream games like LoL, Csgo, Overwatch, etc) ?

looks to be fine  I7 6700k would only be for a bit more horsepower for streaming and gaming, but overall you should be fine ^.^

Depends on the games. CSGO, LoL and Overwatch really don't need an i7...

I agree but Streaming is hard on the CPU a friend told me!

For streaming use the nvenc (nvidia gpu encoding) you can record 1080 60 with nearly no fps drops

Thankyou very much for the feedback ! I did some research and even though 6600k is not bad, I will go for a i7 6700k because I want it to last as long as possible and I want the extra performance !

Thanks fellow Canadian ! I never heard of the nvenc before, I will do some researchs before building my computer. 1080 / 60 no fps drops whaaaaat (I am coming from a 10 years old computer)

I was proving my point. I don't play overwatch, but what games I do play I can play and stream on an i3.

To be honest you should consider going a X99 platform route and getting an i7-5820k, as it's faster than the 6700k and is on a higher-end chipset, it shouldn't be much more expensive. Will definitely last longer than the 6700k.

There's a very limited amount of games that you can play & stream on an i3-2100, but generally as a rule, i3s ≠ streaming.

Do not try to stream Arma 3, scratch that do not even try to play it... o3o (the game is so poorly optimized I advise to to not touch it until you get a i7-6700K or better...)

CS:GO, TF2, Planetary Annihilation.

1080p downscaled to 720p 30fps, 2800kbps. 

I can stream and record all those games.

Well, I could stream any game on the market with an FX-8350, The Witcher 3, Rise of the Tomb Raider, that doesn't make it the best CPU to do that.

And while it is true that the 6600K would be good enough for what OP wants to do, an i7 will be better. You don't know what he's going to stream, maybe a new game that will come out in a year will be CPU demanding and OP will want to stream it, I'm certain that 8 threads won't hurt him, as long as the money isn't an issue obviously
