Bringing a PC and a Monitor on an airplane

Hi guys,

 

So I'm going to france for a month and I'm thinking about bringing my desktop tower and one of my monitors.

 

Will customs be pissed off or will they be ok with it?

 

And will customs/airport security ask me to show them the insides?

 

And will customs/airport security ask me to prove it works?

AND is it a stupid idea or not?

I'm going to a country on vacation.  i'll bring it with me.

Depending how big it is, it might pose a problem. I once tried to bring a car battery from UK to US and they threw a fit lol

Yeah you just send it via courier to your location

you should be ok taking it on a plane, but I would declare it straight away, and let them know its a PC, its possible they will examine it

Or would it be better to put the PC in baggage?

 

and not have it in carry on

Sure, but it would need protecting, and it could get flagged during a scan, etc but most likely would be ok

Taking it with you shouldn't be an issue, however when taking it back home you may have to prove to customs that you bought it in your home country rather than abroad. 

 

If you have a mechanical HDD in your rig you may want to consider leaving that at home, airport crew are known to trow luggage around....

What scan? You just show up at the airline counter........ register it and drop it off and then go to airport security

 

EDIT: NVM a friend explained it. He recommended to put a fragile sticker on it and label it "Computer"

I have put a PC in my luggage before. No issue.

Second time I did it I didn't bring the PSU and case with me.

power supplies are fine

 

They dont want carry batteries because of hazardous materials

try to carry on everything you can, as airliners basically play football with luggage. Anything that doesn't fit on carry on bags, make sure theyre not expensive or easy to break. leave the cpu in the motherboard.

If you have HDD's i wouldnt do it... they are butal with check ins
