TPLink/Realtek WLAN driver issue

So I had a Win 7 install with a USB2 Alfa Network 54Mbit Wlan device. Worked with no problems for 2 years. It is a devoce with a Realtek driver.

While transfering to a new case I misplaced the WLAN device and tried to use a different one from TPLink, a 300Mbit nano stick.

I just installed the driver from the TPlink one and since then no matter which driver I uninstall or reinstall none of the two devices is working properly, device manager shows the device is active and working but no cennections ard detected. Windows tries to automatically repair but says there may be a driver issue but no solution.

Is there a way to wipe the driver completely or some file in the registry I'm missing? Uninstalling the drivers doesn't work.
