I wouldn't recommend MT.Gox personally. They have had far too many issues in the past, and currently. Their market volume is down, prices are higher partially due to the inability to withdraw funds in a timely matter (withdraws for cash can take months for even small amounts), and their overall influence is dwindling. With the recent freezing of their American accounts, legal hurdles, and the lawsuit/counter claims lawsuit between MT.Gox and Coinlabs which reportedly has coinlabs making away with over 5 million dollars in the failed partnership. On top of that you have the very poor communication that comes out from MT.Gox.

All that has shaken customers belief in them as a leader of exchanges. Many, including myself are under the suspicion that MT.Gox is insolvent and slowly delaying the announcement by fulfilling withdraw requests with new deposits.

That's not to say they do anything intentional, rather a poor set of circumstances that have happened lately, and I will be avoiding them until future times when it's fully resolved and publicly known.

A great way to find a place to buy Bitcoins in your region, is http://howtobuybitcoins.info/ They have a rather comprehensive list of exchanges and stores that allow you to go in and buy/sell.

Personally here in Canada, I use https://www.cavirtex.com/home for my Fiat to Bitcoin needs. I've had nothing but a great experience with them including calling customer service with inquiries, concerns, and when I experienced a glitch on their trading platform. Every issue, or question I have had, is always answered promptly, accurately, and in most cases going above and beyond my expectations.

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
Users cannot, and will not securely manage key material. Most users can't and the ones that can, wont.

Ask me about Bitcoin, Litecoin, Crypto-Currencies, and/or Mining them.

I think that there should be a larger thread with more information. I would not mind making it so if you dont mind I will.

I've considered making one for awhile now.... but it really comes down to where to begin, what to cover, and where/how to end... I could go on for days about the workings of Bitcoin. In the end I think it's better to have people research and come up with specific questions of their own that we can answer on a per user basis instead of having a stickied novel at the top of this sub-forum everyone gets told to read.

I will see what I can do, if it starts to get too long I will stop or something.
