So, I was helping a friend of mine build his first ever gaming computer. While installing windows 10 from the official windows 10 USB stick that I had received with my copy of windows I encountered a problem. Even though there isn't an OS on the computer it constantly crashes with a windows BSOD error message. After finally getting to the installation screen I was greeted with another error message. It said "Windows cannot be installed on this disk. The selected disk is of GPT partition style." I'm not entirely sure what this error message is trying to tell me. The hard drive he is using has been completely cleaned and reformatted as well. Does anyone know how to fix this issue?

Is it partitioned? Recently, I was having problem with windows too, and decided to freshly reinstall, however, I think you will find it much easier to install windows 7 or 8 then upgrade. If you do install 7 or 8 make sure the recovery partition is large enough for windows 10 otherwise it will take a longer time upgrading it to windows 10.

Also are you using a 64 bit windows and a pc to support it?

whoever format the drive didn't do it properly, just format the drive through the Windows installer.
