Intel 535 vs 540

In all honesty.... Samsung 850 evo. But if you want an Intel one, I am not the right person. I have not looked into the market in a while, I just go "what is the newest Samsung, no horrible glaring issues, yup I'll buy that".

Anyways. Yes, it isn't the highest performance one you can find. But that is irrelivant. No one would ever be bale to tell the difference under normal PC workloads, and the price for the 850 is amazing. You can get a 500 gig for 154 bucks! Can't beat that.

Also, samsung has a MUCH LARGER market share in the SSD space. I am not arguing for or against, I am just saying they make incredibly affordable SSD's that seem to deliver. I have lots of em, and have had 0 issues.

I am just trying to give value advice. If you need an Intel one, yea, that makes sense. But an 850 is cheaper, larger, just as fast, and you will never wear out the flash. It will outlast the PC, and it has a 5 year warranty if it where to have an issue. So if it does die, you will get a 2750 evo by that time anyways. Odds are SATA will not even exist by the time the flash dies.

They tend to last longer before failure.

 

This is due to how SSDs behave. SSDs are limited by the amount of times you can write over the same storage space. This is a limitation of flash chips.

 

The more times it is written to, the slower it will be (which is to say that this process is gradual and mostly negligible) until it stops working entirely. 

 

 

HDDs are also more reliable because you'll have plenty of advanced warning. it might show the problem in a different way e.g. Noise or high temperature. So you can catch the problem early on and buy a new HDD to replace old.

Oh and I should point out. In 99.999999999999999% of SSDs. Higher nanometer flash dies faster. Smaller and older nanometer flash lasts longer. e.g. a 40nm Flash chip will last longer than a 16nm Flash Chip.
