Updating my rig from mid 2014

Kirya

Hi guys and first of all thanks for reading !

I've been thinking about updating my RIG from 2014 mostly because of that juicy 1070 !

This is my build from 2014 :

1 ASUS Z87-PRO C2

1 Intel Core i5-4690K (3.5 GHz)

1 ASUS GTX770-DC2OC-2GD5 - GeForce GTX 770 2 Go

1 Corsair Vengeance Series 8 Go (2x 4 Go) DDR3 1600 MHz CL9

1 Corsair Builder Series VS650

And the case :

1 Corsair Carbide 300R

Do you think I could just change the GPU ? I also have an issue with my case : cable supplying my GPU are touching my case and are being bent quite a lot !

Greetings from France

Kirya

If you are going to keep your i5 it would like overclocking.

I'd change the PSU first as it's of low quality. Ideally, choose one from tiers 1 to 5 on this list:

After that upgrading the GPU would make sense but wait for the RX 480 or get an aftermarket 1070.

You put it as 650W. 650/550W is more than enough :)

I mean about the quality, I have a Corsair VS650 which is T7 in the ranking he just linked. I'm pretty sure 550W would be enough but should i go for a High tier PSU ?

Ty :)
