Can someone explain what member studies are for example I see some people who are senior members and others who are moderators and I wanted to know if someone could list the ranks and such because I want to be a very active member on this forum but I need to know abut more about the site first.

You don't need to worry about member levels. They don't matter anyway. Linus & co. select those who deserve to get senior rank (I think I read something like this). Moderators are also handpicked. I assume most of them are Slicks irl friends. So just enjoy and help others.

Yeah I like this whole system, it classes us as members, unlike other well known tech discussion sites. For example Tom's Hardware will label you things like "veteran" or "expert" based on post count, when many of those people fall short of being worthy of that title.

Never trust anyone based on post count alone, listen to what everyone has to say.

So far as I know it's junior member, member, and senior member. It keeps jumping about, I have been all three :) Not really sure how it works but again I wouldn't worry about it too much, just enjoy the ride!

'Senior Members' aren't hand picked, it's just there was a glitch between betas where one version would automatically update people's titles to Junior > Member > Senior when they reached a certain threshold; however, now that system doesn't seem to be working yet their titles have stuck. Moderators are handpicked, but by no means is that because of personal friendship with Slick or Linus.

The tags are just arbitrary anyway, post for the sake of posting, not to just gain recognition :)

Thanks for this clearence. I read throught some topics conserning this but didn't remember how it was.
