So everytime I try to shut down my computer, I get this error message: "the instruction at 0x00007FF753569582 referenced memory at 0xFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF. The memory could not be read". (for the record, the program warning me is "cwagent.exe - Application Error)

Anyone familiar with this problem? I just got a new SSD, so I want to make sure it isn't a problem with my memory.

Note: I realise there's a place for storage devices, I just miscatagorized this. Want me to repost?

I think that means one of your registry settings are invalid. Have you considered a fresh os install?

I would if I owned it, but I do not, and would rather not buy anything right away.

There are actually two versions. It started of as an open source project and was later taken over by a company who since then develops a commercial branch.

Here's what to do:

  1. Download a Ubuntu image and burn it on a DVD/create a bootable USB stick (just use Linux Live USB Creator)
  2. Boot from USB/DVD
  3. Select "Memtest" in the menu by using the arrow keys and press Enter
  4. Wait. Let it run for a few hours. There are two numbers on the screen that re important to you:
    1. Errors: This counts the errors encounters, if the number gets above zero, your RAM is bad.
    2. Pass: This counts how often all checks have been performed. Each pass consists of 12 or so memory tests. It's generally common to wait for 4 passes before assuming the RAM is okay.
