How do I deal with slow ass intrenet?

So I have Charter Internet out here in Houston Texas, except in the specific area that I am in Charter hasn't run any fiber out here so I am stuck with 15mbps. i moved out here from Sacramento California and I had Xfinity and I was getting 150mbps and it wasn't that expensive. How do I even deal with this bullshit. Interent is so fucking slow, watching youtube has now become more than a hassle, and just gaming sucks overall. What the fuck am I supposed to do?

15mbps slow.. what..

anyway I found that the opera turbo mode works decently for web browsing

15mbps should be no problem for gaming so something else is at fault

Thats that. If you need to get in touch chances are you can find someone that knows me that can get in touch.

gaming depends more on ping than raw speed, and theres not much you can do about that besides switching servers. for youtube, you could try downloading videos and watching them locally

15mb is pretty fast...

Just deal with it. I have to deal with 2MB Down every day. Streaming movies at 1080p is no problem, no buffer, Just don't run 1080p 60FPS on youtube videos.

Download games overnight, and thats it.

You were lucky to have 150 down, Remember there are places in the world *cough cough upper part of Maine* who only get 2mb/s

You really shouldn't be an asshole about it, you could always have slower speeds

well since I am also sharing it with three other family members and besides when I do a test I actually get about 3mbps and I am sorry for challenging yours or anyone else's intelligence but I do mean megabits per second, and 15 megabits per second is equivalent to 1.8 megabytes per second which is slow as a fucking snail. To say it again I went from a whopping 150 megabits per second internet speed to 15 megabits per second that is a massive difference from 18 megabytes per second to 1.8 megabytes per second.

Mb is bits it takes 8 bits to make a Byte (B) so if you are getting "2MB"  (megabytes) and I can't even get 1 megabyte then there is a huge difference between our internet speeds.

Mmmm no. 2MB/s is equal to 16Mb/s In this case I get slightly over because ethernet

As you can see right now, my internet is not in the best shape!

slower than yours! Yet I can still stream a movie 1080p on Netflix and play a game with 60 ping. Its not bad. You took the 150 down for granted

no I didn't because I actually used it and loved it, I was willing to give it up to move out here anyways I just didn't know it was going to be substantially lower than what it is currently, either way it doesn't matter because it doesn't exist out here.

I truly feel because I actually lived without internet for 6 months all I had was an NES and a pack of cards

He literally just showed you that with his connection (which is worse than yours) that he can stream 1080p Netflix and game at a decent  ping. I have a very similar internet speed (unfortunately the entirety of Australia does) and I game competitively with no problems. The 150 would be  a dream for most people. You took it for granted and now you are getting standard internet speeds. I hate to say it but what you have now is what lots of us have and if we can make do with online gaming at 60ping and streaming from youtube/Netflix at 1080p I'm sure you can too.

Again!!!! I am only getting 3 down so it quite a bit less than his is still. Also I used the 150 full well knowing I was going to lose it eventually so not exactly taking anything for granted. Besides I get 7 if I am even slightly lucky. Also sorry for all Australians, when I visited I didn't use the internet but from what my friend says it is fairly slow but that isn't my fault nor is it the Australians faults. It's the fact that Internet providers find no way of producing more money from setting up fiber out there so I guess it is ultimately ISP's faults for not providing proper service to the people.

You're still not getting this, We have shitty internet but we can game fine, we can stream fine. Hell, I play tf2 MGE while twitch streaming and streaming Netflix sometimes. it is YOU who has the problem, not your internet. Just deal with it.  I'm  doing all   this on a wifi card I bought for $5 and the modem that came with the internet package.

this thread is useless, please close. he is asking for a free way to get better internet and we all know that isn't possible.

I wouldn't rule out Charter throttling him either.
