Hello there,

a couple months back I completed construction of my first ground up pc,

Maximus VIII Hero

i7 6700k running at 4.6 ghz

gigabyte gtx 980 w3

32gb 2666mhz ddr4

and an 1100i power supply

along with my own custom water cooling loop.

everything was great up until this morning, i was getting great temps, good performance and no problems. i was playing Hearts of Iron IV that just came out and around 11 i went to bed and turned my monitor off. when i got up in the morning i turned my monitor on and was greeted by no signal, so i restarted my computer and still no signal. so i looked at my motherboard and restarted again, i had a red cpu light and a q code of 15. after taking off the cpu and checking for damage(pins ect.) i put the heatsink back on and tried again. now i have a red cpu led and a q code of 13. also before 13 code i could press the reset button and sometimes get the light to go off and the q code would progress to 69 but still with no post. i am at a loss as to what this is, is the mobo bad? did my cpu fry in the night somehow? my temps have been running at 41 degrees Celsius under load. the entire rig is less than 5 months old and there are no leaks in the loop anywhere.

Computers are great, but I never leave mine just running on its own. Sleep mode or shut down when I leave it.

(I interpreted your post as 'you left your computer on overnight')

Have you reset the CMOS?

I usually don't but it was late and I was only asleep a couple hours, and yes I have, still same code

Phew, thats a couple hours more than I'm comfortable with!

Strange that it appears to have affected the hardware somehow though. Usually the worst that happens is Windows 10 installs itself or something (/s)

I assume the CPU light means the MOBO doesn't like the CPU anymore. Seems you'll need to get a new CPU, at least to test with.

Or a new MOBO, whichever is easier. It's ok if you borrow a friends (carefully!)

Had a quick look around and have seen a few people have the same problem with that mobo and q15 error, in the end they had to RMA as well as nothing else worked either. Hope you have better luck with the new mobo when you get it :)
