I have a Windows 10 tablet and I can get into the BIOS (which is UEFI) and disable secure boot but whenever I try and boot from the USB (on multiple distros) and it either goes to Windows or flash the screen. It's not the USB as it works on my main PC (also UEFI) so I don't get it.

disable secure boot and format the disk?

  For non-UEFI compliant operating systems. You will need to enable CSM.
