Hey guys!

Been a short while since i've posted here, thought I'd come back to make sure i've got my information correct before I go ahead burning out a shiny new D5 pump.

I've just gone out and bought a new EKWB Xres 140 d5 Pump/Res combo, and with it an Xres Multiport Top. I want to cap off the marked "In" section of the pump housing, which feeds directly into the bottom of the pump, and run my loop back into the top of my Multiport Top. Theoretically it should never run dry, although better safe than sorry!

If anyone has a similar project you could share, please feel free to let me know/post some pictures!

You mean like this?  Mine goes out to the loop on the bottom and back in at the top.

The downside is that you have to fill it all the way to the very top or you get a running water noise.

Yes, Exactly! Found the answer from myself after removing the Pump top from the Pump, but just wanted to be sure!

Hmm, thanks for the info, that's concerning. I Wonder if there's a way to alleviate that. Do you still have the foam insert? you could maybe install that just under the Multiport.

Also, did you manage to get a drain port into the loop? would be quite Helpful!

It really isn't a problem to get rid of the noise.  Just make sure it is topped off once everything settles in.   Took me about 2 days.   No noise at all now that everything is stabilized and all the air is out.

It is just that in a normal setup you can run a res almost empty.  With this setup you get the noise from the water falling into the Res.  If you run the pump at a slower speed it isn't noticeable.  At high speeds with a low Res it is though.

I put my drain the the basement of my case coming off of the lower 360 Rad.  However you could do it off the unused inlet on the pump as well if you needed too.  Just get a valve.

Get those tube inserts from ekwb they made for that reason...  No running water noise and no air bubles bring create by the splashing.

Yeah, The Unit I've bought has come with a tube like this, although it's only 50mm long. Will probably try to install it in there as well. Thanks!

Yeah I can imagine that it would be an issue having to top up every now and again.

I was looking at a T piece just after the pump, with my drain at the bottom of the T, and therefore hopefully the loop. Otherwise maybe out the bottom of the Res as you've said.

Just figured out, that particular part doesn't fit in my Res, it's only 140mm itself. The tube that came with the Res doesn't natively sit in the Port at the top, but I think there is a way to do it..

We also have a short 40mm version which is ideal. :)
