If we want to have a horrible section (personal opinion) of the forum than that section's post should not show up in the 'View New Content" section than so I don't have to deal with Ask a X, Whats your favorite X, and other pointless things I don't care about. Than you would have to go to that sub-forum specifically to view that content. 

I wouldn't mind that alternative than.

I feel you, but like someone already said it here. There is Offtopic and there is plain bullsh*t.

That is quite the fine distinction!! It kind of depends on the person, some may find it stupid, some find it funny and want to talk about it.

I agree with you, however, that there are some things that just don't make sense. But who will draw the line? And where?

In order to avoid that I would like to believe that uninteresting or childish topics would be quickly buried by more interesting ones.

But then again, that depends on the people in general...

No possible way that would happen here. Only deletion of the topic or locking it would do the trick. If this section was monitored better and stupid topics locked/deleted then it would propably lower chance for people to even think of posting stupid topics in the first place.

I spam a lot (mostly in the photo section), but threads like "ask a gay girl" ask a straight guy ask a metro-sexual panda make even less sense than "Linus got a XA20"

just because it's a tech site it doesnt mean that the community cant get together and talk about other things that are not tech related.

starting a random topic out of nowhere is very refreshing to see.

im sorry, i can see that you're "that guy" in your group of friends.

Random and dumb are two different things.

 

And im not any guy in a group of friends because i tend to not have "friends" here. People in my profile are ones that added me and i CBA to delete them.

 

 

 

I've seen much, much worse. This is nothing. 

With that kind of thinking no wonder people start those kind of topics and noone reacts...

Honestly a lot of the members have been treating Off-Topic as a Facebook wall or a personal blog.

There are a lot of things that can be categorized as OT but damn people.. I don't want to see this crap on the forum.

 

Whats worse is when a stupid post pops up, there are a certain group of people who come into the topic and just bring down the quality of the forum a lot by acting childish and immature.
