If the PCI-Ex16 is used for GPU, and PCI-Ex1 is used for storage, network and sound card, does the PCI slot still have any use?

Legacy support mainly. It also doesn't use PCIe lanes so you can throw a wifi card in there without an impact.

AGP - Older graphics cards

PCI - Basically everything that PCIe does, but for stuff from before 2007,

ISA - Really fucking old stuff, the interface before PCI.

You can use PCI-e for a lot more than just gpus and storage, and you're no forced to use them for either based on the speed of the slot.

 

PCI is still present mainly to support older expansion cards, but it's still good enough for usb cards and stuff like that, so if you have one and your pcie slots are all full you can use that.

For most home users, a PCI slot is mostly good for running an older sound card. In some business, university, etc uses, a PCI slot can also be used for some specific I/O, data acquisition, etc, card(s).

Many new motherboards don't have PCI slots.
