I use After Effects and Premiere and I keep getting lag in After Effects. I have found the source of my problem to be a slow hard drive, WD 3TB Green, and not enough RAM. I was going to get 32gb of RAM, a WD black, and a 6900K but would it really speed things up that much? If not what would be the best option? 950 series SSD?

Just keeping this here as a I might try this but there is only 40gb left and windows is on it so I don't really want to mess with it too much. This is why I wanted to get a 950 for the temp and I then can archive it to the other hdd

If you are actually running out of RAM, that's going to be a very obvious effect where everything is either fine or unusably slow.  If you are running out, definitely upgrade that first.  The processor and storage upgrades might help but they will be a more "linear" benefit...

Yeah I am always hitting my RAM limit. So I was thinking 64gb would do. Linus actually did a video and Edzel used 72gb at times. But that was 4K footage

Well since AE stores a preview in the RAM and once that is full it goes to my HDD which is a slow 3TB WD green I get constant lag and dropped frames.
