CS:GO Menu Lag and crashes

Hello everyone,

 

I have recently installed CS:GO on my new laptop (all drivers up to date with manufacturers website) and am experiencing lag and crashes while in the menu and sometimes while in game.

 

When i click on inventory for example it lags and the sound stutters for a second, kind of annoying but i can deal with that.

 

When changing the V-Sync options the game completely crashes and the sound of the menu music just keeps looping the bit of music it was playing (a 1second loop) the only way to end the loop is to ctrl alt delete and just tab back into the game.

 

I have verified the game cache and totally re installed the game.

 

I also experienced this in portal 2 once while changing some graphical options.

 

Could this be an issue with the source engine? or something a lot easier to fix?
