I think last time I had to return a product I wrote a letter and put it inside a box and the letter had the RMA number. I sort of forgot exactly if that's what I did but what do I do with the RMA number when shipping it? Do I write a letter containing the RMA number?

The RMA process should have strict instructions - generally you include an RMA form in the shipping label pouch on the outside of the box and inside the box. You will want to make sure it has all the relevant information on it.
