GTX 1080 HoF Announced - Fastest GPU Ever!

Overkilled

If 2100MHz is the max that's kind of a bummer since people were able to get 40-50% overclocks out of a 980 Ti and this one seems to cap out at 30% overclock.

Actually it's like 15% from the 1080.

They boost to a tad over 1800 out of the box

A good 1500+ mhz 980 ti can actually get really close to an overclocked 1080.

I made comparisons from base to maximum overclock just because those are numbers that don't vary from card to card, since I don't know the typical out-of-the-box boost clock of a 980 Ti, reference or otherwise.

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

You can check out the old one that gave joy to so many across the land here

Reference 980 ti is somewhere around 1180 out of the box boost clock if I remember right.

So let's run numbers with those and round up to 1200 for ease and because many people have non-reference 980 tis which should boost higher.

980 tis OC'd to 1500 on a 1200 base. 25% overclock.

1080s OC'd to 2100 on a 1800 base. 16% overclock.

It mirrors the comparison between base and max OC, but that was to be expected. I wonder if AIB 1080s will OC further.

It's not likely at all, from what I've seen so far, all AIB boards will guarantee is stability in the boost clock, since throttling will be prevented essentially.

Might not be adding anything productive but I doubt everyone knows about the a Turbo button on the card which basically ramps up the voltage giving more power to the card and also ramps the fans up to 100%. Its used for benchmarking

Good news boys, LN2 2500 mhz on a HOF 1080 at 1.39v, seems they found the secret sauce somewhere to get voltage working properly.

Still slower than the top 980 ti's on LN2, but still good nonetheless!

The score is about even with a ~2025 mhz 980 ti on Ln2.  The top 980 ti are capable of ~2100-2220 mhz at 1.75-1.85v i believe.  So the 1080 still needs to get a bit faster to catch up.
