From what we've seen it's similar to a 390/970. Also it's RX now, not R9.

Everything points to 390 level performance, including AMD not allowing benchmarks until launch.

They say it equals a $500 gpu in vr, in game fps also?

Was VR the current technology when the 980 was introduced? Does the 1080 or even 1070 address this change and offer specific technology to aid in VR support?

The RX480 can't match a 1070 in VR, the list of reasons why is extensive. And it has no responsibility to since it's half the cost.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

By $500 gpu I think they are referencing the fury.

LOL, I hope not. What a disappointment that card was. The RX480 at least has the chance to be a good budget option.

That card is better than a 390.

Not for the money, much rather have the 390. The 390 offers more memory so can access higher quality texture options, and is only slightly slower. For 200 bucks less.

I mean an 8gb fury equivalent is better than a 390 equivalent for $199.

It showed it beating the 1080 at 51% load in cf.

OK, let me break this down for you.

Ashes of the Singularity was used because it's the only game where AMD has an advantage.

They cherry picked the benchmark. Even then the had the RX480s running different graphics settings than the 1080.

Being at 51% load, is a bad thing. So ether Xfire wasn't working, or they don't have a proper driver yet.

And if you look they say 500, not 400. 200 times 2 is 400, not 500. So they were using the 8g 480, not the 4g.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

I pretty much know they picked that rather than a game because their cards have a bigger advantage in that benchmark.

It would be major deception to have theirs at a different graphics level, and 51% would mean the card is even better at 100% (maybe they did that on purpose).

You can see in the video the two are at different settings, AMD totally got caught too.

You've never crossfired, have you? I had 390s in Xfire and with a pretty substantial Steam library not one game offered a benefit with Xfire enabled. AMD cheated, which is customary so no harm no foul. Nvidia did the same.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

Maybe it's because I use Nvidia Inspector, but I find it pretty rare that SLI doesn't give me at least some advantage.

Crossfire and SLI are two different animals. In my experience crossfire has much better scaling, but extremely limited application. And SLI doesn't scale as well but is more useful.
