the one you listed ( BestBuy  ) is the one I have. works great at 1920x1200 res. I had a coupon and a kickback from prior purchases..... paid $247. ........... $279 isn't a bad price for the performance.

I really don't think prices are going to do a lot of dropping, so yes, if you want it, buy it...... ( unless there's one lying around during Black Friday )

For some applications, having the reference blower style cooler could be much better than having an open air cooler.

very specific applications........ They are loud, they don't keep the card cool, and in my opinion they look worse.

Like that "How hot and loud can your GPU get" game, reference cards dominate the leaderboard. I just can't compete with my open cooler with 3x the fans.

A 970 is not a very "hot" card to begin with......Under 70C is where my R9 380 is at ALL the time. Reference would love to be able to do that.

lol, open air coolers certainly perform better in most cases. But my point is that sometimes, having a card exhaust its heat OUT of the case is much better than having it exhaust inside the case. Especially if you're dealing with incredibly small (and full) form factor cases.

im not really interested in polaris nor pascal and i want to go with nvidia because it has less cpu overhead in dx12 games (CPU=FX 8350) and the 390 has a much higher cpu overhead
