Iphone 5s screen removal

Go to solution Solved by Sequence,

As Suika said as long as you transfer the touch ID home button on to the new screen everything will work as normal, as far as apple bricking iPhones they have since stopped doing in and it is no longer an issue. If you replace the home button aswell the button will work as intended but you will not have touch ID functionality as the home buttons are licked with the logic boards of the phones.

Hello everyone, a friend of mine asked me if it was possible to replace the screen of an iphone 5s. I instantly remembered that apple bricked iphones with unregistered TouchIDs. For some reason i recall that Apple doesn't brick iPhones anymore but just makes the TouchID unusable. Is that true?

If it is true, i will try removing the button assembly from the new screen and replace it with the old one. Will that work?

Ifixit.com as linus would say :) https://www.ifixit.com/Device/iPhone_5s

Thanks for the info, although i am fairly experienced at replacing iphone display assemblies, so the video isn't of much help. My question was if reusing the TouchID sensor will brick the device or render the TouchID useless. Really appreciate the info though!

Wait, so are you replacing the TouchID sensor as well? Or just the screen assembly?

If you're replacing the screen assembly, it'll work fine. If you're replacing the TouchID unit, unfortunately I'm not certain, but worst case, I'd rather lose TouchID than keep a broken phone.

if you have to insist you think for yourself, i'm not going to believe you.
