Hey Com,

So Today i thought about building a new Computer for several use. I would like to use it for Gaming, Streaming and video editing.

At the moment I'm at the total start of planning but i thought a lot about the CPU.

So my question is: Is there any recommended clock speed for gaming? I thought about the i7-6700k, an intel xeon e5-2623 v4 or an xeon e5-2620 v4.

The difference between the two xeons is the clock speed and the amount of cores. The 2623 got 2,6 Ghz(HT 3,2), 4 Cores. The 2620 got 2,1 Ghz(HT 3,0), 8 cores.

Is more clockspeed better or would more cores for a little less clock speed be more efficient?

Thanks for reading and answering :)

Sorry for my bad English

There are few games that benefit much from more than 4 cores. Higher clockspeed is preferred for gaming if you already have 4 or more cores.

If you ever need help with a build, read the following before posting: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/3061-build-plan-thread-recommendations-please-read-before-posting/

Xeons cost way more.

Core clock speed doesn't matter after a certain point.

You want 4 cores preferably at 3.5GHz or so.

After that clockspeed doesn't matter.

Cores matter more at that point.

Judge a product on its own merits AND the company that made it.
