It looks good overall but you should seriously consider buying a motherboard with the 970 + SB950 chipset pair , they're newer chipsets with better features like more usb 2.0 and 3.0 on the back of the motherboard, faster SATA controller, and usually they should have better cooling for the VRM (the circuit that converts 12v to the voltages needed by the processor).

Asrock 970M Pro3 should be fine, it's 65$ with a $15 rebate on Newegg right now, so basically $50 motherboard : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157582

Seems like most of your stuff is from newegg, I would focus on getting the rest from Newegg as well, may save you some money on shipping.

The i3 6100 has two powerful cores which run at higher default frequency, so applications and games that don't use a lot of cores may run faster on this cpu compared to the fx-8300.

However, consoles these days are made using AMD processors with at least 4 cores so more and more games will be optimized for lots of cores so in time, games may run better on the AMD build.

The AMD processor will be powerful enough and will last you for probably the next 5-10 years or so, I mean if you'll upgrade the video card in the future the processor will not limit the performance of the video card. With that i3 processor, there's a small chance years from now when you'd buy a much more powerful video card, that i3 may be a choke point for the video card (let's say if you'd be into VR or stuff like that)

The i3 build recommended by that poster has only two memory slots which means you may be limited in the future if you want more memory and it also uses DDR4 which is also slightly more expensive. On the other hand, you may be able to upgrade the processor to an i5 or i7 in the future and get more performance.

If you're not in a hurry, you may want to consider waiting until after Computex (1st of july, first week of July) to see what's going to show up on socket AM4, the new socket from AMD.

With this socket, you're going to have processors that work with DDR4 and the motherboards should be packed with modern features, but should also be slightly cheaper than Intel motherboards.  As for processors, right now in June-July, the first processors for that socket AM4 will be some dual and quad cores that should have performance comparable to that i3... but in winter this year AMD will release their Zen processors which will be 8 core with hyperthreading (so 16 cores in total) so if the processors that are going to be released in the next month won't be powerful enough for you, you'd be able to upgrade to those.

AMD processors are old and outdated. With an i3 you can upgrade to an i5 or i7 later.
