Dropping FPS when streaming

i have a 5960x and i was trying to stream on twitch using OBS, i had twitch on running on in the background and obs streaming but in CSGO i went from 600fps normal to 50fps  when i closed twitch i got up to 120fps. 

what do you guys think it is ? should i not stream on the same computer as i am gaming on ? but its a 5960x

How much ram have you got? What kind of drive are you playing on?

16GB 4X4GB Quad Channel DDR4 2666MHz playing from an ssd

thats enough ram to not cause a bottleneck in almost any game.

 

Try reconfigure OBS to use Intel Quicksync instead of using the CPU cores

nope made no diff, the 5960x doesnt have an igpu

what GPU do you have?
Try use GPU acceleration if possible.

 

it may be that OBS imposes some sort of VSYNC....

okay then it's not the same issue I once had with a slow hard drive which caused the ram to be overused. That's obviously not the case for you though
