Logitech products are of high quality but also come with a high price. The peripherals market is the usual you get what you pay for, but stay away from razer, their quality is shit it's just about  brand name and looks.

What about Corsair's rgb line of keyboards? The k70, k95 or Strafe rgb. K95 has dedicated macros and the k70 and Strafe can be programmed through software?

I don't like rgb illumination so I can't comment on that. What I'd suggest is to decide the type of key switch you want and start reducing the number of models available from there.  And in terms of macros mouse sortcuts are probably better than keyboard ones for gaming.

the 910 doesnt have cherry mx switches btw. i dont know if you really care but they use some other kind of switches (topre?).

if you want backlight and real cherry mx id recommend going with corsair.

Logitech uses their own developed keyswitch, the romer-g switch which they developed with help of omron.

for cherry mx either Corsair or cooler master for the win.

Well my current criteria of a keyboard is for a RGB Backlight, mechanical and a few macro keys the g910 seemed to be similarly priced to everyone and a friend of mine says anything besides logitech is shit, so i kinda just chose the g910

Well i would say that you should not take your friend seriously saying that. There are a lot of good brands out on the market.

You can't take Words like that just for granted. I would suggest checking out Corsair for keyboard. The k95 has 18 macros, rgb lightning and cherry keyswitches.

lol when comparing keyboards i wouldnt put logitech in the top 3 or even top 5 of keyboard manufacturers. they deffo have some good mice but for keyboards id go with corsair, daskeyboad, ducky, coolermaster or even razer before i get a logitech g910. mainly because it looks and feels all cheap and plastic and they dont use original cherry mx switches. to me it would be very important to get those original german cherries :D

The new razer Blackwidow x chroma is also pretty interesting due to the fact that their own keyswitch has a lifespan of 80 milion keystrokes on each key, compared to cherry's 50 million keystrokes which is pretty insane. But however i prefer the feel of cherry every day of the week.

I got one for my younger son a while back when I found one on sale through Best Buy.  The Romer-G keys are a lot like Browns, but with a shorter throw and a slightly more squishy feel.  The keycaps are a little odd, but I do not find them bothersome at all.

My main gripe is the built in wrist wrest and the placement of the G910 lighting within it.  Simply put, it's horrible for anyone with adult sized hands, and the odd shape precludes using an aftermarket wrist pad.

If you can get one for cheap (I got mine for about half current retail) go for it.  Otherwise, for that sort of money there are better options.

Ah I had no idea you were referring to AUS$ (how would I?)

The K70 RGB Brown appears to have abnormally low price compared to the other K70/95/Strafe RGB listings.

Perhaps you could backorder it and lock in the price.

If not for that, the G810 and Strafe RGB variants are within your budget.

Get the one with the switch type you want and aesthetics;

G810 is a more traditional design, simple and professional

Strafe with its naked key design and big bold lettering, is certainly more gamer-y

MX Red is linear, non tactile, fairly noisy

MX Blue is tactile with additional click upon actuation, making it the noisiest mechanical switch you can get

MX Brown is tactile (but not so much as Blue) and no clicks. Low noise

MX Silent is linear, non tactile. Has slightly less actuation distance and is much quieter than Red

Romer-G is comparable to MX Brown with o-rings. Has significantly shorter actuation distance than all above Cherry keys

After researching alot i think its come down to the K70 RGB Brown, or the Gamdias RGB keyboard here http://www.msy.com.au/viconline/peripherals/17094--gamdias-gkb1050-hermes-rgb-backlight-mechanical-gaming-keyboard.html

Its mechanical and it looks alright and its cheaper then the rest and also has some really cool backlight features....
