Re-Installing Windows

I haven't done it in a long time so I can't really remember, when you want to transfer windows, can you just use your old install disk and reinstall on an SSD or something? If, so whats to stop people from using one copy of windows on multiple machines?

activation keys only work on one PC at a time

Once I am running windows on another hard drive will it be as easy as deleting windows from my other hard drive (with them both plugged in)?

yeah, but its better if you format the other drive instead of just deleting windows files
