Why is my 8gb RAM Kit showing as 4GB?

Hi all,

I need some help. My 8GB Kingston Hyper FURY X kit is only showing up as 4GB, I moved which slots the RAM was in to no avail.

One stick is probably dead

Is it a 2 stick kit or is it 1? A 32 bit OS should not matter here... do MSINFO32 in run or cmd and screen shot that please.

It's a 2 stick kit running on a 64-bit system heres a screenshot: http://imgur.com/k6p0ihT looks like it detects the 8 Gigs but isn't using it?

Hmm, which slots on you mobo are the sticks plugged into, did you read your MOBO manual about this? Also can I see task manager with the ram area?

is it possible that overclocking the HT can cause this?

HI, I had that problem, the solution for mewa to update the motherboard's bios, try that.

 

It was on an MSI mobo.
