power supply help

Go to solution Solved by threadysparrow,

anything over 600W is fine if you have less than 3 video cards. If you start SLIing and Crossfiring them together like christmas lights, then you might want to look into a 750W.

Watts are not the only thing to consider. You have to consider connectors. Your new video card will require 2 PCIe power connectors (6 or 8 pin) and if you do not have those then you need to find a different power supply.

It should be fine

PC: Corsair C70 Arctic, FX 9370, Corsair H80i, Gigabyte 990fxa-ud3, Corsair Vengence 16gb, Palit JetStream GTX 970, OCZ Vertex 4 128gb and Western Digital Blue 1Tb + 500gb, Antec Gamer 520w

Peripherals: Logitech G19 and SteelSeries Sensei RAW

Toshiba L50-A: i7 4700mq, 8gb, 1TB HDD, GT 740M 2gb

I get 60 frames at 1080p on a dual core APU. Ask me how.

Yes your power supply would be able to handle the 7970. You would only need a 750W if you plan to crossfire/SLI in the future.
