Thanks, so should I try to avoid the Air and go for the Macbook? The only ports I need are a headphone jack and maybe a USB port (I see the Macbook doesn't have though).

The Air is nothing special, has the same quality screen as my shitty 2012 bottom tier Lenovo. The MacBook is really compact and has a great screen. Also, http://www.amazon.com/QacQoc-Premium-Delivery-superspeed-Aluminum/dp/B01B8V6J2W/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1463893122&sr=8-1&keywords=macbook+usb+c+hub .

To start this off, I know that a lot of people in this forum are die hard Windows fans and sometimes bias towards Windows based Computers and Laptops but if possible I want people to be as neutral as possible.

So I was looking at the Macbook Air as a laptop that I would use to do word processing on the go and listen to music (mainly Spotify). I like the fact that it is extremely light and compact (I will mainly be using it in bed, on planes, buses, trains etc.) and I also really don't like massive screens on laptops. I have look for Windows machines like the Air (admittedly not too thoroughly) and haven't really found one.

I mainly want to see if anyone on here owns one and what they think about it (what they like, hate etc.) and if they would recommend it.

Also if you really want to, link a Windows laptop like the Air at around a similar price point.

Thanks and I'm sorry if I offended anyone at the start

I use my MacBook Air for what you'd use the MacBook Air for, and the MacBook (yes that thing) will do all of that better while being smaller, better screen, etc. In your situation I'd get it. IF you don't need the power or ports it a great piece of technology. My sister has a 2015 Air and I can tell no difference between that and my 2013 that I'ved used daily for 3 years straight. The MacBook 12" is even smaller than the 11" Air. The Air is nice but I hate the screen, and the (non retina/glass) panel gets dirty easily and is't too easy to clean (for me at least.)

Or you could get the dell xps 13

Just checked the 13" Air when customized is ~$100 cheaper (where I live) than the XPS 13 with around the same specs

How about a zenbook they can be as cheap as $700-$800

Asus has trash customer service, quality control, etc. None of the UX305's have more than 4 stars. That basically means that they are alright but nothing special. The only negative reviews on the most recent MacBook are from people who clearly haven't purchased the device.

Yeah I've had enough Asus products, I have blacklisted them now. Never buying from them again. I may be slightly biased, as I usually will just go for Apple laptops because I think their OS is better for mobile use and the MBP is really not priced badly at all, looking to get the next one whenever it comes out. Most of the "gaming laptops" are too heavy, thick, loud, hot, bad screen, bad build quality, etc. 90% of the time it's not that way with Apple laptops.

the 11" air is great, for what it is. screen resolution is "low" but its so small its perfect for its size but its a fantastic quality imagine and high enough ppi that theres no visible pixelation.

its a perfect lightweight word/browsing/music device, but dont expect it to be able to do any heavy lifting.
