Hard Drive Cloning

Hi y'all. I wanted to transfer a windows os from a 1tb WD green to a 640gb WD Black. I used XXCLONE but although it boots into the windows 8 lockscreen when I log in there's just a black screen and a mouse cursor.

Does anyone know how this can be done without loosing any data?

So you're installing a new boot drive? If so, just intall windows onto that and then instal the original drive and copy what you need.

I don't want to copy what I need. I need everything. I need an exact clone of the WD Green to the WD Black...

I am wary of cloning tools as most of the time something goes wrong. Howver I'd use EASEUS ToDo.

Long time fan of Acronis here as well - usually works with no hassle...

You could also just use a linux command prompt... but if you're scared of a lack of GUI, I sometimes use Clonezilla.

Yeah, I can vouch for Acronis, used it quite a few times, hasn't failed on me before.
