dual 3440x1440 or replace?

hi,

currently this is my setup a 1080p 60hz TN samsung on the left as 2nd display for monitoring ( starting with rainmeter stuff ) and skype, teamspeak etc

and on the right is my 3440x1440x 60hz IPS AOC

since i got this beauty i'm curious about more than 60hz IPS

always hearing fancy things about those nice acer and asus displays with ips and >100hz

would you recommend them?

i'd like to keep my sidedisplay and swap the 60hz ips for a better one                OR   dual 3440x1440 then

current setup

i7 4790k 4,6ghz

16gb ddr 3 1867

evga 980ti sc+ acx 2.0+  ( waiting to get oc ) or replaced by a 1080ti with more vram, i already maxed the 6GB VRAM with some AAA titles and it seemed like i need more :P

I also have interested in that market as I am planning on a GPU upgrade but from what I have read it seems like a lot of these top tier omnitors have severe quality issue. Amazon reviews picture a lot of cases of poor quality control. Damaged panels, Dust inside the LCD, flickering, dead pxiels, scan lines, heavy backlight bleed (mostly with IPS). I read this accross Acer and Asus monitors and I asked a similar question on the forum. This segment really seems to have a problem.

Performance wise I doubt you will be able to make use of 3440x1440p 100Hz monitors with ONE 980 Ti let alone their horendous prices (1k and up).

yeah, i m worried abouth those asus and acers ips 34" too because i see so many lightbleed and other problems in the comments

lucky i dont see any bleed on mine

>1grand is hard, hoping for a good deal on ebay or somewhere, dont care about scratches if there is no bleed, dead pixel etc

waiting for a 1080ti or go dual 980ti when the prices go down,

the price went down like 50bucks for mine in the last 8months in germany... 50bucks is like nothing

1 main and 1 sidedisplay is fine, but i was thinking about it if i'd get another 34" 1440p then i could use multiple screens while gaming

never used more than 1 display to game, but i guess its nice with a bigger field of view etc and 2 34" are almost surround

no gpu can drive that properly. also for surround gaming you need 3 displays otherwise you have a bezel in the middle which destroys the experience and your HUD. and the 34" 21:9 are a little bit too wide.

the most i would do is one 21:9 in the middle and 2 1440p 16:9 on the side. i dont know if this works with nvidia but amd crimson can do this.

maybe get a 60hz 27" 1440p ips. it should align quite good with the 21:9 in terms of height. and if you want you can add a 2nd one for gaming.

then i'll better stay with 1 21:9

but the question is... is it worth to upgrade to a >1grand IPS 3440x1440, seperate from the fact that i'll need 980ti SLI to run it with >100fps easily

for multimonitor gaming it would be kind of cool. especially with multimonitor projection coming. but its really a personal thing. personally i wouldnt go for more than one monitor again because i find it hard to concentrate when your able to have netflix or youtube somewhere all the time. you would probably need 1080 sli however :D

depending on the game the performance is enough, i run BF4 with almost stable 120fps that should be ok for 100hz

but trying to run something like project cards with maxed ... uhm *cough* didnt get me that many fps

i'll try to get a good X34 and then test how it goes, maybe they release the data of the 1080ti in a few months with 10jiggabyte HMB2 :P
