Hi everyone. I wasn't sure if I should post this here or in the cpu section, but I just have a quick question. A buddy of mine currently has an fx6300 and gtx 960. His birthday is coming up and I wanted to get him a gtx 1070. However, is that a bad idea? Will the cpu bottleneck the gpu that much? In what ways? If it is that bad, what would be a good upgrade? Other details are 8gb of ram, 600watt psu, and he games at 1080p.Thank you in advance!

Most likely. A 1070 will likely be redundant at 1080p as well unless it's a high refresh rate monitor.

This is, of course, if we are to believe the alleged Titan X - like (or greater) performance of it.

Case: Corsair 4000D Airflow; Motherboard: MSI ZZ490 Gaming Edge; CPU: i7 10700K @ 5.1GHz; Cooler: Noctua NHD15S Chromax; RAM: Corsair LPX DDR4 32GB 3200MHz; Graphics Card: Asus RTX 3080 TUF; Power: EVGA SuperNova 750G2; Storage: 2 x Seagate Barracuda 1TB; Crucial M500 240GB & MX100 512GB; Keyboard: Logitech G710+; Mouse: Logitech G502; Headphones / Amp: HiFiMan Sundara Mayflower Objective 2; Monitor: Asus VG27AQ
