are there ones with an hdmi too?

Why would you need that if you are going to be using a graphics card?

And you gain no real extra performance from a higher-end motherboard.

pretty much this.

the moment your motherboard *works* all thats left is fancies and reliability (which honestly.. even biostar is fine xD)

i have a prebuilt that's gladly running an i7 4770 off a single VRM, i'm at a point where i dont care about motherboard reliability anymore.

I am glad for you.

Analogy:-

Everyone has stories about how they know someone that smoked forty a day and lived to be ninety so smoking is not bad for you.

I would say you have struck lucky having a board, with one VRM, that is trouble free .

Biostar will produce at least one board that goes 'forever', ASUS will produce at least one that's DOA. Luck of the draw if that happens .

Generally though some brands TEND to be more reliable.

Like all things this can be taken to extremes and some boards just add 'bells and whistles' to justify the ludicrous price.

Go for a board that does all you want and is from as reputable a manufacturer are your paranoia demands, do not pay for unnecessary fripperies

i'd dare to say "luck of the draw" is a bigger variable than "reliable maunfacturer"

the prebuilt is just one of many examples i have. either i have infinite luck with shitty hardware, or other people are doing horrible things to their hardware i dont.

how about this: a motherboard that literally doesnt have a single cap on there that hasnt gone bulge, it still runs like a dream. i dont even dare running it without keeping an eye on it, but it seems to be indestructible trough normal means.
