Hi,

so I've been told that once the GTX 1070 & 1080 will come to the market, the prices of GTX 970 should drastically drop, so my question is, would two GTX 970 be better than my current Radeon HD 7970? Or should I buy 980Ti? or save up for the 1070/1080? However I still play at 1080p since I don't have a better monitor and also my CPU is an AMD FX6300, thanks

New prices won't drop too much, used most likely will. I'd upgrade your cpu first however.

That's on the second hand market, btw. Prices for brand new GPUs don't really drop much.

If I was in your position... I'd just get ONE Gtx 970. Once a day, do a search on your eBay-ish site or something and try to snag yourself a deal on a cheap used 970. It'll take some effort but it'll be worth it.

Then, sell your 7970.

And with the money you've got left, put it in the bank to generate a bit of revenue, while you wait for Zen / Kaby Lake to reach the market. And once either does, upgrade your CPU+Mobo+RAM combo and get rid of that FX.

Older gen cards don't tend to "drastically drop" in price. There are still high end cards from three generations ago selling for 70% of their MSRP new. The price performance of two 970s are never going to match that of the 1070.

- Upgrade your CPU to i5 6600k, not hating on AMD but it's just much better for gaming performance. I'm not sure but that FX6300 cpu should bottleneck the crap out of 1070/1080.

- Upgrade your monitor to 1440p 144hz or something like that, buying 1070/1080 and playing at 1080p? Rather you spend that money on fancy restaurants, it would be less of a waste.

- 970 prices already dropped, there are tons of panic sellers on ebay or your local kijiji or craiglist. Not just 970, but also all high end Maxwell cards.

- If you only play at 1080p, stick with 970. I have a 970 and I go very high/ultra on almost every game @1080p 60 fps.
