I'm looking for a laptop for college, and while i am really excited to see the performance of the Blade Stealth with the Core, i don't like the total lack of on-board gaming hardware.

I plan on taking many 3D-modeling and CAD classes so I need a laptop with some firepower.

Ideally I'd like to get a 17" razer blade pro for its awesome hardware and portability, then couple it with the core for gaming because I believe its quad core could leverage the external graphics much better.

Unfortunately the current 2015 pro is lacking a thunderbolt port and has a few other issues that stop it from fitting the ideal setup above. I haven't been able to find much information on a replacement, but I'm trying to find out.

SO does anyone know if and when a new blade pro will be released, and if it will be better for me than the current model? and in either case, would it even come out in time for next school year?

When was the last blade pro released?

Thanks, guys~

The Razer Blade Pro is shit compared to the normal Razer Blade.

The Razer Blade is 1000 dollars cheaper, currently comes with a better screen, better processor, way better GPU, all in a smaller footprint. It's crazy to get a Razer Blade Pro.

i was under the impression that the blade stealth had no graphics horsepower whatsoever and a dual core CPU.. and i really like that 17" screen

i use an ASUS g750, and i can say that if it was lighter i would happily take it to classes

previously they announced the new blade pro about 1 month after the blade

its been more than 1 month since the newest blade has been announced

so idk if they are making a new blade pro....

i have seen quite a few people have quality issues with blades though, so personally I would opt for a 15" macbook pro and paint it and install windows on it

way more battery life too

Ah, I was referring to the 14 inch Razer Blade, which is 2000 dollars right now. No one really like the Razer Blade Pro :P

Heh-- as fun as that would be, i really need the graphics horsepower of something like the pro and the portability, given my different, computer-intensive classes

when comparing the same generation of blade and blade pro, they are the same price

+-$100

the point of the blade pro is a larger screen, and people who want a larger screen are not concerned about "smaller footprint"

if you want small footprint buy an XPS

I would still argue that the Razer Blade Pro still makes no sense. Pay a little less for a lot more. The only drawback is a smaller screen.

the pro only has a 960m

which is not a lot

you can get than from an XPS15

the regular blade has a better GPU than the pro

i was expecting this years blade pro to have an updated GPU but it doesnt seem like they are continuing their blade pro lineup since its been way longer than a month

i wanted to get one before because of the trackpad on the right and larger screen

but there are a lot of quality problems with them, it doesnt seem like something that will last me 10 years

also very expensive

Too expensive for my taste, but I'd personally would want a get a laptop with more bang for buck.

those are all good points, and i appreciate you input.. i was just trying to see if there was a new model before i wrote it off for exactly that reason.

i mean for 3000 USD i would buy a blade pro with a 10XXm and a core with a GTX 1080 alongside it, since the quad core processor could really leverage it.

and yeah that switchblade UI is actually quite nice.

unless they are doing some serious remodeling with new screen and pascal GPU, they may have just discontinued new models of the blade pro because they dont sell much

There have been - just not in the last 3 years :D

Anyway, avoid Blades at the moment - heat issues and poor quality control.

nah even some of the first razer laptops ran a bit to hot for my liking. What quality control?

I was seriously considering getting it for school. Its only weighs like 4 lbs and the charger is super small too. But $2200 for the 512gb version is a little steep, maybe if it came with a 980m instead of the 970m it would be worth the money.

Considering even the 970M overheats, a 980M Razer Blade would set itself on fire
