A Mystery thing.

My pc was doing nothing and afterburner was turned off and suddenly i hear the fans go full speed .

I checked the temp it was 96 C degrees.

Isn't that a curious thing.

I very much doubt virus. I'd disassemble the video card and replace the thermal compound. Depending on how old the card is it's probably crusty and dry.

Possibility, well then I guess it depends on if the fan ramped up slowly or if it was at 100% in 1sec. Gradual ramp up might mean cryptominer virus, instantaniously at 100%, bad contact with GPU dye.

It was strange because it happened only once and the fan turned off when the temp reached 88 C then i turned on afterburner and all good after that

Some sort of glitch then? Let us know if it happens again. It's a R9 380? Jeez, heck of a glitch for such a new card. Never mind changing the thermal compound that'd be a waste of time.
