So I recently upgraded my pc from a FX8350 4.0GHz, 32 GB of ram to a i7-4790k and used all the other drives I had. Hoping I didn't need to load a new version of Windows 10, again.  But now. After installing the new hardware my pc takes forever to load, I also timed it and its exactly 40 mins. Please advise guys. Thank you in advance.

Thanks guys. Anyway to not reinstall windows?

Was it the first time you rebooted your computer? Windows 10 is pretty versatile at changing hardware but required installing them on the first boot.

Can you try rebooting again?

No. The Windows installation is tired to your hardware, you'd have to reactivate it anyway

Hello MimigaKing,

I reinstalled windows 8.1 pro on my pc as it was the only copy I could find without buying a new copy of windows 10 pro. Now all is working but one of my VolociRapter drives isn't working or acting weird as when it is in the system, it takes close to 30 mins to load windows, but when I take the drive out (hot swap) it loads fine less than 1 minute. That drive is where I keep all my steam games. Can call me dumb by doing that works awesome when I go to lan parties as I do not need to redownload some games.

After you upgraded to the 4790K, did you install the drivers that came with the new motherboard? Or better yet, the latest drivers from the motherboard's website?

In any case, it could simply be that your VelociRaptor co-incidentally crapped out at the same time. I'd replace the VR with an SSD and copy the games over while you still can.

Or, you could try using a different SATA port for the VR. Is it SATA2 or SATA3? Maybe it matters.

Now that you have Windows 8.1, you should be able to do a free upgrade to Windows 10 (if that applies to the "Pro" version.)

A sieve may not hold water, but it will hold another sieve.
