no need for a aftermarket heatsink and z170 mobo if you're using a non-k cpu, you won't be able to OC anyways.

Yeh, I thought I would splash out on the silent and fast SSD - I will set up a home file server anyway so I don't need huge space.. I could probably go with a 500GB to be frank. And I don't particularly want to wait, it will be interesting for sure but the 980ti is still a great card, and will be so for a long time. Also, availability issues might be a thing? And I will need a PC before they come out.

I am just transferring that over from my current rig whilst I have it - I will be getting a 6700k eventually.

I like the single fan GPU, great idea! But I will be getting a 6700k eventually so I will need the cooling. Plus the Dark Rock looks badass.

I totally understand and agree about the GPU. It's not like new GPUs make the 980ti perform worse.

personally i wouldnt use a fanless cpu cooler in a H440, the be quiet is fine, just put the fan curve low and you are good.

and for a more silent gpu, (without knowing how much pump noise there is) i would take the EVGA hybrid instead and adjust the fan curve.

CPU: 6700k 4.6Ghz GPU: MSI GTX 1070 Gaming X MB: MSI Gaming M5 PSU: Evga 750 G2 Case: Phanteks EVOLV

Tbh, the 1070 alone should be able to outperform the 980ti. Do yourself a favor, get a 950 or other minimum necessary card for your resolution. Get like a used 760 or something, whatever you do, spend as little as possible to get decent framerates at reduced settings. Then, when you actually can get a 1070, or if you prefer, a 1080, then buy, chuck the other card into a river or something, and have wasted as little money as possible. The 10xx series is going to be so superior to the 9xx series, especially at their price points, that you really, really, should do yourself that favor.

I really dig their AOI 980ti.. I just wish I knew how loud it was! If it's quiet then boom, it goes in the build.

... so I already own a pretty new 970. I guess I hadn't thought of using that until one of the 10 series comes out. Not a bad plan!

Well, cost isn't really a big boundary so I can afford to splurge a bit - I just don't want to spend money for the sake of spending money. I am happy to buy premium, but there is wastefulness..

You already have a 970? Just keep that around, the 970 will still crush 1080p for max settings A and AA titles, and high settings on AAA titles. With that option in mind, just keep that little monster around until your can kiss your 1080.

<o good sir

Yeh its a perfectly good card, although I am iffy about taking it to the other side of the world but oh well. I'm a bit tired of being stuck at 1080, but I guess I am being a bit picky. I will stick with the 970 and then pick up a 1080 when it comes out.

The GTX 1070 is being lauded by the community as being able to outperform the GTX 980ti, at almost half the market price. You should be able to get a reference card from Nvidia and it's partners on the day of release of either the 1070, or the 1080, but if you wait, it might be as long as 2 months before you can start ordering again.

Why not a 6600k? And since a GTX 1080 overclocked is about 68% faster than the GTX 980 Ti. I think you should wait to buy the Graphics Card, go buying the other parts, but wait two more weeks to buy the GTX 1080 for much less money, and then you'll have more money to spend on an 6600k.

Everybody had said everything I needed to say, all I needed to do was show that if you were reading our suggestions, you'd already have answers to your questions.
