So I recently built a pc.

Amd phenom II x6 1055t

Asrock 970a g/3.1

HD7970

16 gb DDR3 1600 ram

 I have the following problem.

When I try to overclock the cpu my pc will not boot after the restart from bios.  I have to turn kt off and then on again and then I get a message that System failed. to boot multiple times press DEL to enter setup or Tge pc atarts normally with default settings.  So anyone can explain me how I could oc this cpu?

If it's not booting then you either need to up the voltage or drop the multiplier. Not every chip can overclock well, so it's possible you just lost out on the silicon lottery. What are your settings for the failed overclock?

my personal "How to OC in short":

  1. raise multiplier by 1
  2. does it boot?
  • yes
    1. benchmark: Stable? Temps ok? Performance ok?
      • Yes: finished
      • No:  lower clock; lower voltage; increase clock
  • no
    1. raise voltage
  1. does it boot?
  • ...

So I will bump this thread one more time.  Maybe I can get something out of it. This cpu does not seem to overclock at all.  It has a locked multiplier but Ibhave seen people overclock it online.  I disable everything that must be disabled, underclock the ram,  and then change the cpu frequency. After applying and saving my pc tries to restart. It does indeed restart but it does not boot unless I turn it off and turn it on again manually and then reset the settings in bios.
