Hi guys!

I'm getting my gaming rig done and I need to make it look better. And one of the ugliest components (right up there with MB and RAM) is my PSU. I'm planning to change it when I get some money again. I know it's bad to be on a budget when buying a PSU, but my whole rig is an i5, GTX560, 4GB RAM and a 500GB HDD system so I'm not going to blow a ton of money just on a single part that will not give me ANY more performance at all.

Options I am thinking about:

a) mod my current PSU

b) get a new good looking one under 90€ and buy single sleeved cable extenders

c) get a new one under 110€ with good sleeving/all black wires

New PSU would have to have at least 80+ Bronze efficiency because that is what my current one is capable of (Seasonic SS-500ET T3). If I would mod my PSU, I would make some sort of a cage around it with someting covering wires coming out of it and I would use Bitfenix single-sleeved extenders.

And also, if you know abouta PSU around 500-600W with clean top without stickers and a fancy side logo under 80€, I would love to hear about it.

I think one of the best looking PSUs is the XFX pro 650W (when mounted fan up). The new ones have black wires I think.

Most of the shops around here don't have updated photos of it. I won't buy it when I'm not sure.

I think I will do what I want to do now (get a CPU cooler, some led strips and maybe a HDD silencer) and then I will work on other parts.

I also had an idea. There are few places I could use secure a big plate of metal in my R3. That way I could make myself a basement.

But, I am really scared of modding my case. Really. I had one before this one and power LED died after a week. Since then I'm not leaning tovards anything that could void my warranty. Also, I don't like the R4, so if I will do anything to this one, I will lose my case I daydreamed about for about half a year.

That seasonic is a really nice PSU. I would recommend just trying to dress it up (sleeving, vinyl wrap, whatever works), rather thanblowing 70 bucks or more on something that adds no real value,

There's it on the manufacturers website - http://xfxforce.com/en-gb/Products/Power-Supply/XFX/Pro-Series/ProSeries-650W-PSU.aspx - Nice looking PSU though they are still showing it with yellow/red wiring.

Can't say I've seen anyone successfully put a sheet in the bottom to form a basement. Best thing I can say is look around the web at what others have done to their R3 and see what you think you could do with your skills and equipment. :)
